Concept

The visual concept for this catalogue was born from the theme of the 2021 Italian Cuisine Week: sustainable food and circular economy. Our design approach draws inspiration from the connection between architecture, food, and environmental responsibility — an idea well captured by the expression “from the spoon to the city”, coined by architect Ernesto Nathan Rogers in 1952. This concept reflects the continuity between scales of design, from the smallest object to the urban fabric — and in this case, from a simple recipe to a broader ecological vision.

This is a digital-only catalogue, freely accessible via QR code, designed to be both practical and symbolic. The graphic layout features a recycled paper texture as a visual motif — a direct citation of the theme of reuse and circularity.
All content is presented in Italian and Japanese, embodying the cultural exchange between the two countries. The color images have been carefully selected to highlight the value of detail and beauty, even in what is often considered waste. Because reused food, when prepared with care, can be both sustainable and beautiful.

The result is a quiet but intentional editorial gesture — a catalogue that reimagines leftovers, respects tradition, and uses design to tell a story of environmental awareness, creativity, and cross-cultural dialogue.
