International Workshop FOAN
On October 26, 2024, Matteo Belfiore took part in the International Workshop organized by FOAN (Fondazione dell’Ordine degli Architetti di Napoli e Provincia), held at the headquarters of ACEN (Associazione Costruttori Edili di Napoli) in Palazzo Ruffo della Scaletta.
The workshop explored innovative and sustainable urban strategies with a focus on the future of the Fuorigrotta district in Naples. Morning sessions were dedicated to international best practices from Barcelona, Paris, and Tokyo, while the afternoon featured an open debate with architects, urban planners, and local administrators on how these approaches could inspire Naples’ urban transformation.
Matteo Belfiore contributed insights from Tokyo’s urban policies after the 2020 Olympics, particularly regarding public space, parks, and the quality of architecture. His intervention highlighted how Japanese and Mediterranean cities can exchange strategies to shape more livable and inclusive urban environments.
This event was not only a platform for exchanging ideas but also the starting point of a permanent laboratory on urban transformation promoted by FOAN.
